hello!
I’m Roselle
If I were stuck on a deserted island, I’d be happiest with a few books…for a while. Then, I’d get to staging a play with all my newfound friends, the flora and fauna. I’d obviously have the leading role in the nightly show. My days would be filled with concocting new recipes for dinner, and crafting new parts for my best friend, a jaunty stick named Ernie, to play! That’s me in a (coconut) shell: a joyful introvert who also loves being on stage, and a leader who believes in catalyzing those around me to excellence. I’m happiest in my kitchen, cooking for and feeding my family, casting my pets and family members in wild plays around our home, complete with edgy musical vocals.
My journey is fueled by a vision of a world that is expansive and systemically inclusive; one where multiple voices are celebrated, the status quo is shaken loose, and systemic resilience becomes the norm.
On this site, I share a view into the multi-hyphenated aspects of my story: including my professional journey as an executive leader and inclusion professional, my expertise in public speaking and facilitation, and my foray into being a best-selling author!
I am a dot connector. A bridge builder. A storyteller.
I’ve spent the last 15+ years cultivating a professional career in the dynamic fields of Diversity & Inclusion (D&I), Environmental Social Governance (ESG), and engagement with Indigenous communities. I augment these areas of knowledge with practice in leadership development, education, and systems thinking.
Here’s what I
value…
Creating meaningful impact through my work. By employing an integrated approach to creating equity both at the systemic and individual levels, I have successfully impacted macro and micro experiences in the areas of systemic inclusion, expansive leadership, and building good relations.
Articulating the congruence between what is said and what is done. This means understanding the “why” of setting goals in order to shape the “how” of achieving them.
Emphasizing connection as relational tissue. As communal creatures, creating connections to ourselves, to each other, and to our communities, is a powerful force for engagement and change.
Practicing ease, joy, and self-reflection regularly. I approach all my work with a sense of humour, an iterative approach, and a commitment to my own values-driven growth.
5 Things About Me…
I was born and raised in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, and immigrated to Canada at age 13. I am incredibly proud of my Indian roots and Canadian wings.
I believe deeply in the value of good relationships, nourishment, and laughter. My love language is food, and my favourite thing to do is to feed the people I care about.
I love outlaw country music, and am currently deeply enamoured with Chris Stapleton. The most impactful book I’ve ever read is The Petty Details of So-and-So’s Life by Camilla Gibb.
I participated in theatre productions and elocution competitions as a child, which explains my love of public speaking as an adult.
I wrote a book in 2023, a memoir entitled ‘The Ordinary Turned Precious’ that has since gone on to become an Amazon bestseller!
The Ordinary Turned
Precious
This is one woman’s story on the universal quest for belonging, and the power of human resilience in finding meaning. This is a story of courage, self-discovery, and meaning-making in which readers will find a reflection of their own journey, as they navigate the delicate tension of multiple truths coexisting and finding themselves in between all the spaces to which they belong.
Roselle's migration to Canada as a young adolescent would yield a profound bifurcation of her very identity: too Indian for the new place, and over time, too Canadian to be fully Indian again. By the time she is 23, she yearns to belong fully to one place, and in vain has attempted to sever her ties to the parts of herself that are rooted in the old country, all the things that make her bad and unbelonged, paradoxically less than and too much.
In this odyssey that spans a decade, Roselle (re)connects with her roots, finding meaning and her sense of belonging. This is a story of love and self-reclamation, where each step echoes the resilience of a heartbeat. Through each return to the embrace of her ancestral soil, Roselle uncovers new layers of herself, delicately peeling away the scars of old wounds.
As a bridge between two worlds, Roselle explores the tension of spaces in which multiple truths can coexist, where histories collide, and generations connect. With bracing honesty and vulnerability, Roselle explores the life experiences that have shaped who she is in the world. The Ordinary Turned Precious brings readers along on Roselle’s journey of emerging, not as a fragmented being torn between two worlds, but as something precious woven with the golden threads of what it means to know who you are, and where you come from: to know where you belong.
